Summer Coursework for 6-12th Grades
The overall goal of the high school and middle school summer course work program is to provide a venue for students to engage in academic and intellectual pursuits during the summer that have multiple positive benefits for the students, including vocabulary and math enrichment and critical thinking opportunities. We hope to avoid the “summer dump,” experienced by most schools with students who leave for the summer without any opportunity to exercise academic growth.
Iron Academy is pleased to inform you that we will be using a program called IXL for our summer reading and math enrichment work. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited math and language arts practice across thousands of skills—all of which align with our current school standards. IXL is designed to help your student learn at their own pace. The program is adaptive and will adjust each lesson based on your student’s demonstrated understanding of the material.
Detailed instructions are being communicated to each family and to each student's Iron Academy email address. Newly enrolled families will also receive instructions on how to access their son's Iron Academy email to find the IXL Coursework explanation.
