Dress Code

School policy

Iron Academy has students wear uniforms because of the benefits of neatness, unity, identity, and camaraderie. Uniform requirements will vary based on the type of activity (academic, PE, special events) in which the student is engaged and whether the student is in middle school (6th to 8th) or high school (9th to 12th).

All clothing is expected to be in good condition with no noticeable tears or stains and be relatively wrinkle-free.

Please mark all clothing with your son’s name so it can be returned to him from our lost and found pile. Any lost clothing that is unclaimed at the end of the school year will become property of Iron Academy.

Academic clothing to be worn daily:
On Mondays to Thursdays, dress requirements are:

  • Iron Academy collared shirt with embroidered school logo (dress or polo/golf style shirt) in burgundy, white, black or gray. Shirts are not required to be tucked in.
  • Pants or shorts must be chino (khaki) material in tan, black, or gray color. Joggers and cargo pants are not permitted.
  • Shoes should be athletic shoes; no sandals or flip-flops.
  • Belts are required.

On Fridays, dress requirements are:
Same as above for the pants/shorts and shoes, but students may choose to wear an Iron Academy logo or spirit wear t-shirt instead of a collared shirt. T-shirts may be untucked.

Outerwear requirements:

  • Any shirts, vests, sweatshirts, or sweaters worn in class must have the IA logo. Students may wear any type of appropriate outwear to and from school or when outside.
  • Hats or hoodies may not be worn inside the school building. Students may wear an IA logo hooded sweatshirt in class but the hood must always be down.

FRENCH TOAST: French Toast is an online school uniform retailer who has set up a web page for clothing that conforms to our dress code, including the embroidered logo. French Toast will donate 5% of your purchase to Iron Academy. Renaissance Apparel: This local company offers a nice selection of polo’s, hoodies, vest and jackets in our school colors and embroidered with our logo. They include men’s and women’s styles. Click on the thumbnails to pull up different color and style options, especially for the hoodies. There are several styles available. Orders can be delivered to the school for free or shipped to home for a small shipping charge. An "embroidery only" option is also available. If families choose to purchase color-appropriate polos, t-shirts, dress shirts, etc from other stores (Wal-Mart, Old Navy, Children's Place, etc) and would like to have them embroidered with the school logo, they can bring the clothing to the school (clearly labeled!) to be picked-up by the company. Parents can pay for this option online. Clothes will be brought back to the school and given to the student.
