The Iron Academy Debate Team has performed consistently well since the very first year, losing only once in the five-year history of IA. That single loss was to our semi-annual rival, Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas. How do you debate a school 1,200 miles away? The Cisco Systems offices in RTP and Richardson, Texas have graciously allowed us to employ their world-leading Telepresence technology which connects our students across the table.  As Cisco tells it, Telepresence “helps remove geographic barriers that can affect interactions, helping users to dramatically improve communications, accelerate their decision-making process and speed up globalization initiatives.” In our experience, it allows our students to utilize the best functionality of technology to our educational and pre-professional development aims for our students.  With directional mics and videography, the Telepresence experience is perfect for “face-to-face” debate with worthy rivals over a 1,000 miles away.

The team is looking to its fullest debate season this year.  Different from years past, the team will also engage in apologetic debates throughout the year as part of our curricular goal to teach our young men the best philosophical approaches man has devised, always in the context of His word and solid theological teaching.
